Unlimited Elfstedentocht

In the period from 14 – 18 September 2022, Lex participated in the unlimited Elfstedentocht. This is a sponsored tour in which the participants have to cycle no less than 213 km. Lex can use this to raise money to contribute to the crowdfunding. He completed this monster tour with a lot of effort and motivation and was able to contribute € 1710 to the crowdfunding. A great result! Here's an impression.

Day 1: Leeuwarden – Dokkum

What a fantastic atmosphere and great weather! The 213 km journey started today. Today started quietly with 26 km, but tomorrow 48 km is on the program.

Day 2: Dokkum – Franeker

The atmosphere is still fantastic. The ride started with rain, during the day the rain was interspersed with a lovely sun. No complaining people, just fun and perseverance. Tomorrow already day 3, with 44 km on the program.

Day 3: Franeker – Workum

What a wind there was today! Substantial efforts now and then, fortunately the wind was sometimes at the back. Departure and arrival is a big party every time and the care along the way is sublime. Kudos to Unlimited Events! Lex has now covered 118 km. Tomorrow already day 4, with another 44 km on the program.

Day 4: Workum – Sloten

The day started with a huge downpour. There was also a lot of wind all day! Fortunately, the rain was interspersed with sun every time. Lex has now covered 162 km. Still “only” 51 km to go. Tomorrow is the last day. Still 3 stamps (cities) of the 11 to go and then Lex can receive his cross.

Day 5: Sloten – Leeuwarden

What a rain! Where yesterday the sun occasionally broke through, today there was almost only rain. And then the longest day.

After 5 days of hard work, with the pedal assistance on the lowest setting every day, Lex has cycled 213 km. He was so fanatical that he reached the finish line before we did by car! We were disappointed, there we were with our banner still in the bag and Lex already with a cross around his neck, finished first with 2 other participants. So we sent him an extra lap so we could film his finish.

We are so proud!
